Patrick Connolly works closely with innovators and their investors, from formation through exit. He has spent his entire career counseling on issues like company formation and inter-founder matters, venture capital financing, commercial transactions and mergers and acquisitions. He has been named a Top Lawyer by Boston Magazine by his peers, and a Go-To Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for his work on behalf of his transactional clients.

Patrick counsels emerging companies in several industry verticals, including biotechnology, digital health, cannabis, software, e-commerce, edtech and cleantech. He has counseled on hundreds of venture financings and strategic transactions throughout his career. As a result, Patrick brings a deep understanding of both the unique legal challenges and marketplace realities facing clients within the industries he serves. 

Patrick serves as Co-Chair of the firm's Emerging Company and Venture Capital group, and actively supports ecosystem efforts organized and founded by groups like MassChallenge, MIT and Harvard University.

  • Jana Care, developer of a mobile diagnostic platform designed for chronic disease management, in connection with its $14.4 million Series B financing
  • Genialis in a $13 million Series A financing led by Debiopharm Innovatoin Fund and Taiwania Capital to expand its proprietary ResponderID machine learning platform for clinical and translational research
  • Alloy Therapeutics in several matters, including:
    • $42 million Series D financing round led by its existing investors 8VC and Mubadala Capital
    • Series A Preferred Stock Financing of Vernal Biosciences, a manufacturer of high purity mRNA for research and clinical use
    • its $75.0 million Series C Financing led by 8VC, Presight Capital and Peter Thiel 
    • with the formation of Broadwing Bio LLC, a joint venture with Maze Therapeutics, Inc., to develop targeted antibody therapies for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases
  • H.I.G. BioHealth Partners and Accelmed Partners as new investors and co-leads in the $52 million upsized Series B financing of digital therapeutics company Click Therapeutics, Inc. (“Click”)
  • Alcyone Therapeutics in relation to a $23.0 million financing led by funds affiliated with RTW Investments, LP., to support its pioneering development of next-generation precision central nervous system therapies
  • BostonGene, a developer of biomedical software for advanced patient analysis and personalized therapy, in connection with its $150 million Series B financing, which resulted in the company gaining “unicorn” status
  • Soriant Healthcare, a market leader in partnering with hospitals and health systems to accelerate performance and reduce expenditures in all support services, in its sale to Vizient, the nation's largest member-driven health care performance improvement company
  • Morphic Therapeutic, a high-growth biotech company, in multiple transactions, including:
    • $80 million Series B financing
    • $51.5 million Series A financing
  • Arsanis, an biopharmaceutical company developing infectious disease treatments based on bacterial protein and carbohydrate antigens in its closing of $45.5 million Series D financing
  • Immunetics, a biotechnology company focused on the diagnosis of lyme diseases, in its sale to Oxford Immunotec Global PLC

  • Cruisebound, an online travel site in its $10 million Series A funding, led by former Booking Holdings chairman and Priceline CEO Jeff Boyd and PAR Capital Ventures, with participation from several others
  • Ellevation, a mission-driven software company focused exclusively on English Learners and the educators who serve them, in its sale to Curriculum Associates
  • Zapata AI, a high-growth generative AI company in multiple financing rounds, including:
    • its $38 million Series B financing, led by Comcast Ventures, Pitango and Prelude Ventures

  • Brammo, Inc. a producer of electric vehicle technologies in its sale to global power leader Cummins
